It’s “full steam ahead” on HS2 as new Volvo fleet arrives

Allen Transport is delighted to announce the arrival of the first of its new fleet of Volvo trucks, specifically for working on the high-profile HS2 project.

With bases in Aberdeen, in Scotland, and the Midlands and Middlesex in England, Allen Transport Ltd has become one of the leading and most dependable logistics companies in the UK. The company works to the same simple but highly effective formula that it started with in 2012: providing the highest quality transport and equipment provision to rivals any of the big-name transport and logistics companies, at truly competitive prices. This has helped to secure contracts with a number of big clients working on some major projects, including this latest contract with HS2, the new high-speed railway linking up London, the Midlands, the North and Scotland.

Allen Transport will be providing transport services to move large quantities of earth at sites all along the new route from the South to the Midlands. Its new fleet of Volvo trucks (pictured) are a vital addition to its fleet of low loaders, tipper trucks, crushers, tractors and excavators.

Allen Transport is rapidly expanding, with new additions to its fleet and workforce arriving regularly. We look forward to announcing more updates soon.

Allen Transport delivers a Silver Service

Allen Transport is proud to announce the achievement of a FORS Silver in recognition of the quality of its service.

FORS, the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme, is a voluntary accreditation scheme for fleet operators, which aims to raise the level of quality within fleet operations, and to demonstrate which operators are achieving exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection.

Silver accreditation confirms that Allen Transport employs good practice and complies with the requirements laid out by the FORS Standard. By achieving FORS Silver accreditation, Allen Transport’s fleet has demonstrated compliance with the CLOCS Standard for Construction Logistics and with TfL’s WRRR (Work Related Road Risk). It has also demonstrated that all its driver licence and endorsements are verified through a service that directly accesses the Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency (DVLA) data.

FORS has over 113,000 accredited industry vehicles and over 5,000 members. Furthermore, 85% of transport decision makers want a provider accredited by a UK-wide standard such as FORS.

Allen Transport provides the highest quality service that rivals any of the leading transport and logistics companies, at truly competitive prices. All the company’s vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are equipped with a left-turn audible warning system and are fitted with blind spot minimisation devices. This was instrumental in the achievement of the FORS Silver.

Busy year ahead for Allen Transport

2020 is looking like a busy year for the staff of Allen Transport, with a lot of interest from potential clients across the UK.

The company was founded in 2012 as a regional supplier with tippers, crushers, tractors and excavators. The aim was, and continues to be, to provide the highest quality service at competitive prices.

It’s seen the company spread far beyond its original base in Aberdeen, with more and more work from across the UK.

Mr Allen said: “It’s looking like a busy year with a lot of new road projects and shifting jobs.

“There’s going to be a mix of jobs throughout the UK – particularly in England and the East Midlands.

“With a fleet of over 30 plus vehicles – including excavators, tractors and low loaders – we have the equipment and expertise for the demands of the largest projects in construction, civil engineering and a range of other sectors.”

The core customer base is the construction and civil engineering industries, but staff routinely work in all sectors which need efficient, reliable, and affordable transportation of materials and goods.

Bosses are hoping this year will build on a successful 2019, which among the high-profile jobs included providing the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) and Flannery Plant with unlimited use of their plant during the building of the bypass.

Mr Allen added: “We work closely with each of our clients to develop strong relationships and gain a deep understanding of their requirements.

“All the work we do is done to the highest of standards with a commitment to the protection of our environment and working with local communities and businesses to generate long-lasting and sustainable economic benefits.”

Investment in new fleet

The new tipper truck will enable the company to meet an increasing demand in its services throughout the UK.

The latest-specification tipper has the durability and robustness needed for the demands of the largest projects in the construction and civil engineering sectors.

The truck is equipped with an open-box bed, which is hinged at the rear and equipped with hydraulic rams to lift the front, allowing the material in the bed to be deposited on the ground behind the truck at the site of delivery.

It joins a full range of dozens of vehicles and heavy machinery – including vehicles, excavators, tractors and low loaders – capable of handling haulage and logistics projects in multiple industry sectors.

Mr Allen said: “A key to our continued success is a willingness to invest in our equipment.

“The new tipper truck adds to our extensive number of vehicles making sure we can provide our clients with the best in equipment, with a full range of vehicles and heavy machinery capable of handling haulage and logistics projects in multiple industry sectors.”
